This is a simply beautiful example of the iconic and classically elegant Rolex Oyster Perpetual with engine turned bezel dating from 1959. The beautiful ivory/white dial is in A1 condition and applied steel hour batons are as crisp as the day it was made. The Rolex signed screw down winding crown is working perfectly and the provenance polished steel case is again in excellent condition. The screwback is in excellent condition with only the most signs of wear and the high grade automatic 25 jewel movement is in excellent condition and has just been serviced by my professional watchmaker. The watch sits on a genuine black Rolex lizard skin strap (I will be adding this to the watch over the next couple of days) that’s in very good condition. I’ve also added an after-market steel Rolex buckle. Watches of this quality are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days for the UK, twelve days if overseas, in the same condition.

The Case

The provenance polished solid stainless steel screw down case and engine turned bezel are in excellent condition, with only the most minor signs of wear. The case measures 34mm wide, excluding the Rolex signed winding crown and 40mm, including the lugs. The inside back is signed ‘Montres Rolex Geneva Switzerland Patented’, ‘Stainless Steel’ and has the case reference of ’6565′. The date stamp is ’111.59′ making it 3rd quarter 1959. The serial number is 467**6.

The Dial

The original and beautiful elegant ivory/white dial is in excellent condition with perfectly straight dauphine hands and applied steel hour batons and arrow batons at the quarters. It is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual’, ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ and ‘T Swiss T’ The lens has been replaced and shows no signs of wear or scratching.

The Movement

The original Rolex signed high-grade 25 ruby movement is in crisp, very clean condition. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed ‘Rolex Geneva Swiss’, ’25 Fine Rubies’ and the movement number is ’1560′.

The Strap

As mentioned, I have added a virtually new black Rolex lizard skin strap with after-market steel Rolex buckle.

The Conclusion

This is a rare and highly collectable vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch. I’m happy for this watch to be authenticated if required. Please ring me if you have any questions: Chris 07917 100927
