This is a simply beautiful example of the iconic Rolex Oyster-Perpetual Date from 1959. The provenance polished Solid Steel case is gleaming and shows only the most minor signs of wear. The original Rolex black dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just magnificent with the perfectly straight steel dagger hands and spear head hour batons. The original, fully Rolex signed screw winding crown is in perfect working order. This watch features the very high-grade fully Rolex signed 25 jewel automatic ‘Butterfly’ movement and has just been fully serviced by my watchmaker. The Oyster is a timeless design classic and the condition of this watch along with the authentic Rolex bracelet make this a simply stunning piece – whilst I love black dial watches they are difficult to photograph – this one looks even better in real life. Watches of this quality are highly sought after and if history is any judge will only increase in value.
As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days for the UK, twelve days if overseas, in the same condition.
The provenance polished, fully ‘Rolex’ signed solid steel case and original Rolex signed winding crown are in excellent condition, with only the most minor wear. The case measures 33mm wide, excluding the rare original Rolex signed winding crown and 41mm, including the lugs. The inside back is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented, ‘Stainless Steel’ and the case reference number of 6534. The date reference is ‘I 59′ and dates it to quarter 1 of 1959.
The original and extremely beautiful Rolex signed black dial has been professionally re-finished to the highest standard and is breath taking. This provides the most stunning contrast with the gleaming steel case and applied spear head hour batons. The steel dagger hands and red second had make this a simply gorgeous watch. The dial is signed ‘Rolex Oyster-Perpetual Date’, ‘Officially Certified Chronometer’. The lens shows no signs of wear or scratching.
The original Rolex signed very high-grade 25 jewel ‘butterfly’ automatic movement is in crisp, very clean condition. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed ‘Rolex Perpetual Patented’, ‘Twenty Five 25 Jewels’, ‘Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature’ and ‘Montres Rolex SA’. This is one of Rolex’s finest movements and earliest automatics.
The provenance polished Rolex steel bracelet is in very good condition with only the most minor signs of wear.
I am able to supply authentic Rolex boxes if required. They are from the 1970′s/1980′s or the latest ‘wave’ design and if you are interested please mention when bidding. Whilst I supply high quality boxes as part of the price the Rolex boxes do help complete the watch and retail at £125 or £85 if bought with a watch.
This is a beautiful and highly collectible vintage watch from one of history’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. Early Oysters, are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in this condition – this is just the most stunning watch. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch. I’m happy for this watch to be authenticated if required. Please ring me if you have any questions: Chris 07917 100927
