Overview

This is a simply beautiful example of the iconic Omega Constellation Date Automatic dating from 1967. From the gleaming gold & steel screw back case to the Omega signed winding crown and exceptionally clean movement this is an awesome watch. The original Omega signed ivory/white satin dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is simply breathtaking with gilt with black insert dagger hands and applied hour markers. The very high grade 24 jewel, adjusted to 5 positions automatic movement has just been serviced by my watchmaker and is running beautifully. It is Omega signed on the dial, winding crown, inside case (Omega Watch Company Fab Suisse) and movement. To complete this watch I’ve added a new black crocodile skin strap and gold plated buckle. The overall condition has to be described as A1 with only the smallest signs of wear – the observatory gold insert on the screwdown caseback has been polished & a couple of the stars are a little faint (I’ve tried to capture this on the photograph but please ask for the originals if you’d like a really close look). I have used an authentic Omega box from the 1980′s in the pictures and whilst I supply a high quality box as part of the price I do sell these later boxes for £100 or £75 if bought with a watch subject to availability.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days for the UK, twelve days if overseas, in the same condition.

The Case

The crisp, provenance polished steel and gold case is in excellent condition with only the most minor wear (as mentioned, the stars on the gold observatory insert on the screwdown caseback are a little faint). With the Omega signed winding crown and iconic observatory (gold) legend on the screwback case back it’s in magnificent condition. The case measures 35mm wide, excluding the Omega signed winding crown and 40mm, including the lugs.  The inside case back is signed ‘Acier Inoxydable’, ‘Omega Watch Co’, ‘Fab Suisse Swiss Made’ and carries the case reference of ‘CD 168.004′. The movement number of 23858266 dates it to 1967

The Dial

The original Omega signed ivory/white satin dial has been professionally refinished to the highest standards and is in excellent condition with perfectly straight gilt (with black insert) dagger hands and applied gilt hour batons. The design of the watch and the subtle use of gold looks simply stunning against the gleaming steel & gold case. It is signed ‘Omega Automatic Chronometer Officially Certified’, ‘Constellation’ and ‘Swiss Made’. The lens shows no signs of scratching.

The Movement

The very high grade 24 jewel automatic movement has just been serviced by my watchmaker. It is signed ‘Omega Watch Co Swiss’, ‘Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature’ and ‘Twenty Four 24 jewels. It’s a calibre 561 movement.

The Strap

As mentioned, I’ve added a new high quality black crocodile skin strap and gold plated buckle

The Conclusion

This is a beautiful watch from one of history’s most famous names and will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch. I’m happy for this watch to be authenticated if required. Please ring me if you have any questions: Chris 07917 100927
